REQUIREMENTS : An splendid 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher) qualification in Environmental Health; A minimum of 1 year applicable experience in an abattoir environment; A valid code B (or higher) riding licence. Competencies: Good administrative skills and know-how of administrative procedures; Sound organisational and planning skills; Computer literacy; A sense of responsibility; Good interpersonal / communication skills.
DUTIES : Practical experience of meat protection danger administration and export controls; Practical know-how of hygiene management systems and food safety threat assessment applicable to meals processing establishments, together with abattoirs; Working know-how of the Meat Safety Act, 2000 (Act no. 40 of 2000) and Regulations. A valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa is recommended.
