Job Requirements

The Directorate of Engineering and Technical Services is looking for a dedicated Artisan Assistant (Plumbing) in Plumbing for their Cape Town head office. Applicants must have an NQF level 3 (Grade 10 or equivalent) and experience in maintaining and repairing plumbing fixtures and components. A valid Code B driver’s license and the ability to perform heavy physical labor are essential. Candidates should understand the Occupational Health and Safety Act and South African national building regulations.

Key Responsibilities Artisan Assistant (Plumbing)

Maintenance and Repair: Conduct minor maintenance and repairs of plumbing fixtures and components.
Piping Repairs: Fix various sizes and types of piping.
Safety Checks: Inspect and replace components like washers, gaskets, and filters.
Emergency Support: Assist with repairs and breakdowns, including after-hours.
Material Management: Help control and requisition materials and parts.
Cleaning and Preparation: Clean work areas and ensure all tools and materials are ready before tasks.
Support to Artisan Cadre: Aid artisans in their respective duties.
