Who You Are

You are a dedicated professional with a background in the petrochemical industry and hands-on experience in fire fighting. Your excellent problem-solving skills enable you to navigate complex situations effectively.

What You Have Done Before

Baseline Qualifications:

• HAZMAT Operations experience
• NFPA 1001 Firefighter Certificate
• Grade 12 certificate
• Valid Code C Driver’s License
• Completed Driver Assessment
• Passed Physical Fitness Assessment
• Valid Level III First Aid Certificate
• Minimum of 2 years in a recognized fire brigade
• Petrochemical fire fighting experience

Advantageous Qualifications:

• Basic Ambulance Assistant registered with the HPCSA

What You Will Be Doing

Key Accountabilities:

• Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficient incident mitigation.
• Utilize incident management strategies to prioritize life safety.
• Proactively work to reduce the number of emergency incidents.
• Assist with fire safety inspections and compliance tracking.
• Ensure all relevant equipment and vehicles are operational and ready for emergencies.
• Support Engen Business Units with training, audits, and equipment readiness.
• Fulfill statutory appointments as per the Fire Brigade Services Act 99 of 1987.
• Abide by the regulations set by the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with government authorities, businesses, and management institutions.

• South African Qualification and Certification Committee (SAQCC)
• Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
• South African Emergency Services Institute (SAESI)
