Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Warehouse in Midrand seeks security guards to provide a security service in accordance with the Private Security Industry Regulations Act 56 of 2001. Responsibilities include protecting assets, property, and staff, identifying signs of criminal activities, and investigating disturbances.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct random patrols to ensure visibility and reduce risks.
• Monitor and control access to premises.
• Investigate and report signs of damage or unlawful entry.
• Maintain all registers and occurrence books.
• Perform access control and searches.
• Protect company property and assets.
• Provide customer service and handle unusual or suspicious behavior.
• Ensure all doors and windows are locked and water taps are turned off.
• Conduct personnel frisking and vehicle searches.
• Report incidents to management and law enforcement when necessary.
• Monitor alarm systems and surveillance equipment.
• Assist during emergency situations and maintain order during evacuations.
• Offer security advice and ensure adherence to safety precautions.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 – Matric or a Senior Certificate
• Grade C accreditation with PSIRA
• At least 3 years of experience in the retail industry, such as shopping malls and warehouses

Advantageous:

• At least 1 year of specific previous experience in a similar role

Competencies:

• PSIRA knowledge
• Fire emergency and Health and Safety training
• Proficiency in English (read, write, and speak)

Special Conditions:

• PSIRA registered
• Grade C PSIRA accreditation
• South African Citizen
• MIE, clear criminal and credit record
• Driver’s license and own reliable transport and PDP when deployed as a driver
