Eligibility Criteria

For the Specialist Commercial Bursary, a minimum of 60% (Level 5) in English and relevant subjects is required. For the Engineering Bursary, candidates must achieve at least 60% in Mathematics, Physical Science, and English.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Transnet bursary is competitive and involves several steps:

  1. Application Screening: The Transnet Bursary Department screens applications based on academic performance.

Contractual Obligations

  • Service Requirement: For every year of financial aid received, students must render one year of service to Transnet after graduation, depending on available vacancies.
  • Academic Performance: The bursary is renewable annually based on satisfactory academic performance. If a student fails subjects, they must repeat them at their own cost.
  • Compliance: Failure to comply with the bursary agreement may result in the bursary becoming payable as per the terms outlined.

Vacation Work and Work Integrated Learning

Transnet provides opportunities for vacation work during June/July or December/January holidays. Students must specify their preferred location and period for vacation work. Accommodation arrangements during this period are the student’s responsibility.For University of Technology students, Transnet offers work-integrated learning for those who have completed S4, aligning with the requirements set by their training institutions. This practical experience is crucial for students to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.

Applications can be submitted via email, fax, or post to the Transnet Academy. The closing date for applications is September 15, 2024. Late submissions will not be considered, so applicants are encouraged to apply well before the deadline.
