Application Process

The South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) offers scholarships to high school learners in South Africa, grades 8 to 12, to support their educational expenses. If you are motivated to excel in your studies, this opportunity is for you!

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the SANRAL scholarships in South Africa, applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens.
  • Be registered at an endorsed South African school.
  • Be applying for grades 8 to 12.
  • Have a minimum overall academic average of 60%.
  • Have a household income of less than R550,000 per year.
  • Complete an online application form in full and include all necessary supporting documents.

Required Documents

  • Letters of Motivation: From parents, yourself (max 2 pages), and a testimonial from school.
  • Certified Document Copies: June academic results, ID document or birth certificate, and ID documents of parents/legal guardian.
  • Proof of Residence: Water and electricity bill from the local council in the name of your parents/legal guardian and an affidavit.
  • Additional Requirement: Proof of income/affidavit if the parent(s)/legal guardian works in the informal sector or from home.

Important Information

  • Notification: Successful applicants will be contacted once the final selection process is complete. If you do not hear from SANRAL by 31st January 2025, consider your application unsuccessful.
  • Limited Scholarships: SANRAL has a limited number of scholarships available each year. Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of academic merit and financial need.
  • Employment: Receiving a SANRAL scholarship does not guarantee employment with SANRAL.
